Queensland Cricket’s Institute of Sport & Business have expanded its education offerings in partnership with the TAFE & Brisbane Heat to deliver a cutting-edge Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420), providing emerging professionals with a dynamic pathway into careers across sport, events, and business.
This nationally recognised qualification is designed for individuals looking to develop their leadership capability, strengthen their management skills, and confidently lead teams in fast-paced and high-performance environments – from elite sport and major events to corporate and community organisations.
The accelerated six-month program is delivered entirely online through interactive evening sessions, making it ideal for full-time professionals, athletes, and career changers looking to upskill without interrupting their current commitments. Classes are held twice weekly in the evenings, providing flexibility and accessibility.
Students will also take part in immersive, face-to-face workshop days at Brisbane Heat and Queensland Cricket facilities, including Allan Border Field. Participants will gain exclusive access to Brisbane Heat and Queensland Cricket staff through guest lectures, practical case studies, and interactive sessions. These experiences provide valuable insight into how leadership, culture, and operational excellence drive success in elite sport.
Brisbane Heat | Diploma of Leadership and Management

Fees - The full fee for the 6-month online Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420) is $9,900. Flexible payment options may be available through TAFE Queensland, including access to VET Student Loans for eligible participants.

This program is designed for individuals with existing professional, sporting or community experience who are looking to formalise and further develop their leadership capability.
While there are no formal ATAR requirements for entry, the program is best suited to applicants who have:- An interest in developing leadership and management capability
- A desire to apply these skills across sport, business or community settings
- You may be required to complete a Skills Check following your application submission to ensure this course is right for you. Access and instructions on how to complete the Skills Check will be emailed to you once you have submitted your application
Applicants should have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent and participants will also require:
- Access to a laptop and reliable internet connection
- Basic digital literacy skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and online learning platforms
- The ability to participate in live online sessions and complete presentation and video-based assessment activities
