Allrounder Michael Neser, wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson and new Australian ODI pace bowler Xavier Bartlett all agreed to new deals prior to the BBL contract embargo period which kicked in as soon as last week's Final started.
The Heat is permitted to have 10 players contracted ahead of the embargo period, with Peirson, Neser and Bartlett completing that list.
Neser and Peirson have signed two-year deals, securing them until the end of BBL|15 in 2025-26.
Bartlett, who goes into camp with the Australian team tomorrow for the Dettol One Day Series against the West Indies, has extended his current contract by a further year until the end of BBL|15.
The Heat have commenced non-binding discussions with other players as they look to retain the bulk of their BBL|13 championship squad ahead of the contracting embargo lifting later in the year.
Brisbane Heat coach Wade Seccombe welcomed the retention of the three players.
“I think everyone who watched a Heat game this season would have witnessed something special from each of the players, and we are delighted to be in a position to retain Michael, Jimmy and Xavier as we look to build on this year’s success,’’ he said.
“We’re very aware that next season is a new competition, with new challenges, but we are excited to finalise our squad in the coming months as we get ready to compete again in BBL|14.”
The Heat has now contracted the following players for BBL|14 and beyond.
- Xavier Bartlett
- Spencer Johnson
- Usman Khawaja
- Matthew Kuhnemann
- Nathan McSweeney
- Michael Neser
- Jimmy Peirson
- Will Prestwidge
- Matthew Renshaw
- Mitchell Swepson
