SUPER OVER THRILLER | FIRST WBBL FINALS BERTH

With their WBBL|02 finals campaign on the line, Brisbane Heat international Deandra Dottin played out one of the great WBBL fixtures which included a spectacular super over performance.

Before making Allan Border Field a permanent home in WBBL|05, the Brisbane Heat secured their first ever finals appearance in a super over win against the Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba in WBBL|02, courtesy of a Deandra Dottin masterclass.

Posting a rather modest total of 6/127 in the first innings, Brisbane Heat captain Kirby Short turned to the West Indian all-rounder for the final over of the game with the Strikers requiring just six for victory.

Conceding three runs off the first four deliveries, Dottin bowled Tegan McPharlin with a full and straight delivery before conceding a further two runs off the final ball to force a super over and a chance at their first WBBL finals berth.

Dottin, who was also playing with a face mask to protect a fractured cheekbone from a collision with Laura Harris in the field earlier in the tournament, had earlier smashed 51 runs with the bat, including 7 boundaries after coming to the crease at 3/42.

Bowling first in the super over, Short again went with her International superstar, who kept her nerve, taking two wickets and restricting Adelaide to just four runs off their six deliveries.

Requiring just five, Beth Mooney, now the competition's leading run scorer, hit the winning runs through cover to secure the Heat's first ever finals appearance.

Deandra Dottin finished the game with a player of the match performance of 51 off 41 balls, 1/17 and 2/4 off the super over.
