The WBBL Brisbane Heat has added batter Ellie Johnston and pace bowler Bonnie Berry to its squad for tomorrow night’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League Final against defending titleholders Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval.
HEAT LOCK IN FINAL SQUAD
The Heat have bid farewell to English international Bess Heath who left on Thursday to travel to India to prepare for England’s multi-format series against India.
Johnston, who scored 28 in her only game for the Heat earlier in the tournament, has been in strong form for Wynnum-Manly, hitting two half centuries in three matches in the Katherine Raymont Shield T20 competition.
Teenage Central Queensland quick Bonnie Berry came into the Heat squad as a Local Replacement Player for the injured Grace Parsons and is yet to debut in the WBBL.
Brisbane will have a squad of 14 players to choose from ahead of tomorrow’s decider, which follows strong victories over the Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers to qualify for their first Final since 2019.
The Heat has won two WBBL titles while the Strikers claimed their maiden championship last season and finished in top spot after the regular competition matches this summer.
Brisbane has played six matches at the Adelaide Oval in the WBBL, winning four of them, with the most recent victory coming over the Sydney Thunder last week.
Heat captain Jess Jonassen comes into the match as the all-time leading wicket-taker in Big Bash history, with her 161 wicket the most in both BBL and WBBL competitions.
The Final will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Foxtel and streamed on Kayo, as well as covered on ABC Radio on its local and digital platforms.
