The Brisbane Heat has added South Australian pace bowler Jordan Buckingham to its squad as a Local Replacement Player for the KFC Big Bash League, with his first appearance potentially as early as tomorrow.
Squad Finalised For Thunder
Buckingham, who took five wickets for the Prime Minister’s XI against Pakistan in Canberra last week, was approved today by the BBL Technical Committee and included in the Heat squad to prepare for tomorrow night’s match against the Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval.
The 23-year-old quick was originally supposed to join Brisbane prior to the PM’s XI match, but in turn was required to replace his now Heat teammate Michael Neser in the four-day team when Neser withdrew with soreness.
A final decision on the starting team will be made at the toss.
The 14-player Heat squad includes the remainder of the club’s representation in the first-class game against the touring Pakistan squad, with captain Nathan McSweeney, century-maker Matthew Renshaw and wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson coming into the group.
Previously activated Local Replacement Players Hugo Burdon and Charlie Wakim go out of the squad.
The Heat won its opening match against the Melbourne Stars at the Gabba and had its game against the Adelaide Strikers in Adelaide on Saturday night washed out.
Tomorrow’s match starts at 6.15pm Qld time and will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox Cricket and streamed via Kayo.
