NEW YEAR'S BASH RETURNS | BBL14 Fixtures Unveiled

The Brisbane Heat will be the soundtrack of summer as the return of the New Year’s Bash headlines the 2024-25 KFC Big Bash League fixtures at the Gabba.

For the third season in a row, the Gabba will host a New Year blockbuster when the Melbourne Stars take on the reigning BBL premiers on Wednesday 1 January from 6.15pm.

The New Year’s Bash has featured high profile and popular music acts such as Peking Duk, PNAU, Ball Park Music, Eves Karydas and KLP & Stace Cadet.

This year’s New Year’s Bash will headline a bumper BBL summer for the Heat, with all home matches held during the school holidays.

Brisbane will open its season away against the Stars at the MCG on Wednesday 18 December before playing its first home game of BBL|14 against the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday 22 December.

The immediate post-Christmas period will feature the Heat hosting the Sydney Sixers on Sunday 29 December in a repeat of last season’s Final when Brisbane defeated the Sixers at the SCG to claim their second ever BBL title.

The next home game after the NYB clash will feature the Sydney Thunder coming north for Monday 6 January, with the last regular season home game against the Hobart Hurricanes on Thursday 16 January.

Brisbane’s away games will also see them play Perth Scorchers (Thurs 26 Dec), the Sixers in Coffs Harbour (Fri 3 Jan) for the second season in a row, the Strikers at Adelaide Oval (Sat 11 Jan) and finally the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium (Sat 18 Jan) ahead of the Finals series.

The BBL|14 season will begin on Sunday, December 15 at Optus Stadium, when the Perth Scorchers host Melbourne Stars. Play will begin following Day 2 of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the Gabba.

The BBL|14 Finals series will feature four matches from Tuesday, January 21, culminating in the Final on Monday, January 27, a national public holiday and within school holidays. Venues will be determined by regular season finishing positions and finals series results.

BBL14 Draft recap with Johan Botha

Heat memberships prices have been frozen at last year’s levels for this season for early bird renewals through until August 15, with renewals underway from next week.

Big Bash tickets will go on sale next month.

Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson said the announcement this week of the BBL|14 and WBBL|10 fixtures provided the ideal blueprint for the coming season.

“We’re excited to again be in a position to deliver world class entertainment and action for Heat fans, especially with a stand-alone WBBL match at the Gabba and the third year of the New Year’s Bash,” he said.

“The Gabba will host the Heat’s BBL season almost immediately after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match from 14 December, so fans will enjoy the very best of the summer right here at home during the holidays.”

“With cost of living being a factor for many, we’ve been mindful about memberships and tickets prices for our fans."

“It’s pleasing to confirm that for the third year in a row, we will freeze membership prices as part of our early bird offerings from next week. Ticket pricing will also see a reduction in junior and family prices when they go on sale next month.”

"We're looking forward to welcoming some big crowds to our home games once again in 2024-25, as that helps us directly generate the income we need to invest and grow the game at the grassroots,'' Svenson said.

Thirty regular season matches, and the four Finals, will be shown live on The Seven Network and, for the first time, the 7plus streaming service.

Every match of BBL|14 will once again be aired on FOX SPORTS, available on Kayo Sports, including three massive Super Saturday double headers exclusive to FOX CRICKET.
