The Brisbane Heat have extended their ties with one of Australia’s brightest young stars by securing all-rounder Charli Knott through to WBBL|11.
KNOTT EXTENDS CONTRACT | Signs WIth Heat To WBBL|11
Knott, 21, who first signed for the Heat as a teenager for the WBBL04 season, has agreed to a one-year contract extension that will keep her with the Heat until the end of 2026.
Knott, originally from Hervey Bay and then Mackay, made her Australia A captaincy debut last month, in an unofficial Test against India A on the Gold Coast that was won by the home side.
The appointment caps off a breakout preseason for Knott, who spent the winter dominating in England’s domestic white ball competitions for the Southern Vipers.
In her nine matches, the talented middle order batter and right arm off-spin bowler scored 346 runs @ 49.42, which included her first List A hundred, while also taking 16 wickets @ 21 with an economy rate of 4.72.
Before returning to Australia, Knott was leading the player of the tournament voting in the 50 over Rachael Heyhoe Flint trophy and finished as the second highest wicket taker in the T20 Charlotte Edwards Cup, taking 16 wickets @ 14.93.
In addition to her successful international duties, Knott helped secure the latest Premier Cricket trophy for University of Queensland last weekend, defeating Sandgate-Redcliffe by six wickets in the final of the KFC T20 Max competition at Allan Border Field.
“I love playing for the Heat,” Knott said at the Brisbane Heat Fan Day over the weekend.
“They’ve (Brisbane Heat) got a great program here and I love working with everyone, hopefully I can keep building a good relationship with the team moving forward.
“We’ve been successful for the last couple of years so hopefully we can continue to build on that success and pick up a trophy in the coming years.”
“It’s definitely super exciting to go back to the Gabba. I remember a couple years back when the last game was at the Gabba, I wasn't even running drinks at that stage.”
“It was very exciting to be there and I thought that one day it would be so great to play at the Gabba. I haven’t played there yet in my career so I'm definitely super excited to get an opportunity to play there.
"We don’t get to play many games in massive stadiums so it is very exciting," she said.
