REDMAYNE EXTENDS DEAL | Stays With Heat For WBBL11

The Brisbane Heat have cemented the status of another key member of their WBBL squad with wicket-keeper Georgia Redmayne agreeing to terms for a further season.

Redmayne, who was under contract for this summer, will stay in teal for the following WBBL|11 season to continue Brisbane’s build-up to next month’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League.

She joins Australia ‘A’ captain Charli Knott in extending her contract with the Heat for a further season during the past month.

The opening batter’s updated deal was announced today at the launch of a new sponsorship agreement between Queensland Cricket and Ward, a leading, multi-faceted civil and environmental engineering contractor.

Ward will back the Heat’s historic stand-alone WBBL clash at the Gabba on Saturday 9 November, becoming the hosting partner for the ‘WBBL Gabba Smash’ as part of their sponsorship targeted at women’s cricket in Queensland.

The WBBL Heat and Queensland Fire women’s teams will also carry Ward branding on their playing apparel this season, the first time the company has been involved in cricket sponsorship.

They will also support QC’s female youth program and regional and community initiatives undertaken by Queensland Cricket to help continue to grow the women’s game, as well as the Queensland Cricket Foundation.

Redmayne, who has played 113 WBBL games in her career, joined the Heat for WBBL|06 after previous stints with the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers.

She enters her fifth season with the Heat coming off a successful winter where she was a member of the London Spirit team that won The Hundred in England and the Barbados Royals, the champions of the Women's Caribbean Premier League.

“I'm so excited to re-sign for the Heat,’’ Redmayne said.

“I think I've had four years here now, and they've been my four favourite years of the Big Bash. So yeah, super stoked to be back around the team. “

“Playing a stand-alone game at the Gabba, it's really exciting. Hopefully we can get a really good crowd on a Saturday night in Brisbane,

“We're playing the Adelaide Strikers so we know it'd be a  good quality match, the grand final rematch,’’ she said.

Redmayne has played 56 matches for the Heat, scoring 1502 runs and claiming 40 catches and 26 stumpings.

Redmayne will be in action alongside her Queensland Fire teammates next week, with the Fire hosting two Women’s National Cricket League one-day games at Allan Border Field on Friday and Sunday.

As well as the WBBL Gabba Smash presented by Ward, the Heat will also play three WBBL home games at Allan Border Field, taking on the Renegades (30 October), Stars (Nov 22) and Sixers (Nov 24).
