The Brisbane Heat has named a squad of 14 for tomorrow night’s KFC BBL New Year’s Bash against the Melbourne Stars at the Gabba.
HEAT SET FOR NYB | Squad Ready For Stars Clash
Allrounder Michael Neser has been included in the squad for the first time this season as he nears full fitness and a decision on whether he makes his return from a hamstring tendon injury tomorrow night will be made at the bat flip.
He replaces wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson in the squad which also includes allrounder Jack Wildermuth returning to the group.
The Heat will be seeking to start 2025 on a high note after dropping their past two games against the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, the latter coming before 30,122 fans at the Gabba on Sunday night.
Vocalist, rapper and producer Example will deliver a high-octane headline show as part of the third New Year’s Bash at the Gabba: ‘The New Year’s Bash supporting the KFC Youth Foundation’.
The KFC Youth Foundation is the official charity partner of the NYB for the first time.
Example, whose career has seen him rack up global hits such as Kickstarts, All Night, Changed The Way You Kiss Me and a host of other high rotation tracks, will play in the innings break when the reigning BBL champions, the Brisbane Heat, host the Melbourne Stars.
The KFC Youth Foundation supports Aussie youth mental health and wellbeing through its charity partners Black Dog Institute and ReachOut Australia. As of November 2024, the KFC Youth Foundation has raised almost $11 million in funds to help all young Aussies beyond the walls of KFC restaurants.
Heat fans can directly donate and contribute to the positive work of the KFC Youth Foundation through the 50/50 game-day charity raffle and Ticketek donations when they purchase a New Year’s Bash ticket.
Tickets are on sale now through Ticketek.
