FINALS STILL IN REACH | BRISBANE HEAT FINALS EQUATION

Morning Heat Fans.

Thanks to the over 30,000 of you who turned up to the Gabba Thursday night in support of our Heat. The players appreciate every piece of support and they need you again tonight, in our MUST WIN clash against the Renegades at Marvel stadium.

BBL14 finals are still within reach, so what needs to play out for the Heat to advance?

The Situation

After match 37, the Brisbane Heat still sit outside of the top four on 7 points, one point behind the fourth placed Melbourne Stars.

Therefore, in order to make the BBL14 finals, the Brisbane Heat must win tonight’s fixture against the Melbourne Renegades to jump the Stars in 4th (two points for a win).

The Heat will then need to rely on the Hobart Hurricanes to beat the Stars at the MCG, in the final fixture of the home and away season in order to cement themselves in the top four.

So let's recap: What do we need?

  • The Heat to win against the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Tonight to reach 9 points (4th)

  • Hobart Hurricanes to defeat the Melbourne Stars leaving them stranded one point behind the Heat on 8 points.

Let’s talk no-results.

Fortunately, tonight’s match against the Melbourne Renegades is played at Marvel Stadium which means the roof will prevent any wet weather from interrupting the games play. Therefore, a result will occur.

If a no result were to play out for the Melbourne Stars vs Hobart Hurricanes game at the MCG, the Stars will move to 9 points and the 4th placed team will be decided based on NRR (depending if the Heat win tonight).

The Heat (-0.794) have a considerably worse NRR compared to the Melbourne Stars (-0.073) which means they will need to rely on good weather or a rather convincing win against the Renegades to be competitive for fourth place.

Thankfully, no rain is predicted in Melbourne on Sunday!

There you have it Heat fans.

First step, WIN against the Renegades!
