Hard-hitting allrounder Jack Wood made his debut for the Brisbane Heat as a Local Replacement Player in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He had a standout performance in this match taking the wicket of Ben Dunk with his very first ball.
Wood was a stand-out for Ipswich in this year’s KFC T20 Max competition, finishing as the joint leading runs-scorer with 379 runs at 54.14 with a strike-rate of 160.59. The right-hander, who also bowls left-arm wrist spin, also earned international headlines with a player of the match innings of 101 not out from 59 balls for the Northern Territory as they defeated Pakistan ‘A’ in Darwin in the Final of the Top End Series in August.
Off the field, Jack is a talented singer-songwriter and recently released his debut single SMOKING GUN. Give it a listen via the Spotify!

Brisbane Heat’s indigenous artwork was collaboratively designed by WBBL player and proud Kunja woman Mikayla Hinkley and Brisbane Indigenous artist, Delores McDonald (“Aunty Delly”).
The centre circle represents the Gabba, alongside other water holes which used to be near the ground. 87 black strokes on red earth represent the wickets taken by Aboriginal great, Eddie Gilbert who played 23 games for Queensland.
