JUNIOR CRICKET CLUB: Highfields & Districts Railway Bulldogs Cricket Club
Ellie Johnston was raised on a dairy farm in the rural town of Kaimkillenbun, approximately 4.5 hours from Dalby. Her favourite primary school teacher loved cricket and thought Ellie’s natural sporting prowess would make her a talented cricketer (and wasn’t she was right!). Throughout the years, Ellie would go onto play school competitions and weekend tournaments in Toowoomba. Now she travels across the country representing the Queensland Fire and Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League!
This young gun loves getting outdoors and camping with her cousin Ruth Johnston who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes.
If Ellie wasn’t a cricketer, she’d love to work as a mechanic, but for now, she’s busy smacking sixes and making a huge name for herself as one of the Heat’s top rising stars! Keep your eye on Ellie, she’s one to watch this season.

The centre circle represents the Gabba, alongside other water holes which used to be near the ground. 87 black strokes on red earth represent the wickets taken by Aboriginal great, Eddie Gilbert who played 23 games for Queensland.
